Mitchell Falber has served as general counsel and a corporate officer of ABC Carpet & Home in New York City for over twenty five years. He frequently lectures law firms and local bar associations on the concept of establishing a synergy and partnership between in-house and outside attorneys in order to accomplish corporate objectives and forge ongoing legal relationships. Such lectures establish proper protocol for outside attorneys in dealing with in-house attorneys and corporate executives, while facilitating the prompt and efficient payment of outside counsel's legal fees.
ABC is a privately held affiliation of domestic corporations with over $160 million in annual sales. lt isone of the largest single home furnishing stores in the world. ABC has been awarded the prestigious "Retailer of the Year" award by the National Retail Federation. lt is also listed by the New York Chamber of Commerce as one of the top 100 sights to see when visiting New York. As General Counsel Mr. Falber has seen growth in the company expand from 70 employees to over 300 with retail establishments in New York, New Jersey, Florida and London. His areas of practice at ABC entail employment and labor law, real estate, risk management and insurance law, banking and finance, computer and software implementation, licensing, telecommunications, general corporate law, environmental law, ERISA and employee benefits law, intellectual property, administrative law, municipal regulation,litigation, and alternative dispute resolution. He has been significantly involved in all matters of corporate governance, corporate strategic planning, legal and commercial transactions and global business affairs. He is responsible for the negotiation and implementation of a multi-million dollar, cutting edge flagship computer hardware and software licensing agreement in coordination with
Management Information Services. He is also an active participant in company E-commerce.
Prior to becoming general counsel at ABC, Mr. Falber acted as trial assistant to outside counsel in E.R. Carpenter v. ABC Carpet Co., Inc., which resulted in a five-million dollar settlement in ABC's favor - the largest counterclaim recovery in New York City Civil Court history.
Mr. Falber has been highlighted in The Notional Law Journal, February, 2005, and The New York Low Journal, January, 2005, pertaining to how to attract corporate clients and obviating common mistakes by outside counsel in trying to bring the corporation value.
