About This Course
This CLE program examines the thought patterns and behavioral tendencies that contribute to stress, anxiety, and burnout among legal professionals. Participants will explore how the demands of legal practice, professional expectations, and habits developed through legal training can reinforce patterns of thinking that negatively affect well-being, decision-making, and professional performance. The program introduces practical, evidence-informed approaches to recognizing and managing these patterns to support greater resilience and long-term career sustainability.
The program also addresses common cognitive distortions experienced by lawyers, including perfectionism, catastrophizing, imposter syndrome, and persistent self-criticism. Participants will learn strategies for challenging unhelpful thought patterns, developing greater psychological flexibility, and improving emotional regulation. The discussion further considers the connection between lawyer well-being, professional competence, and ethical responsibilities, highlighting how maintaining personal well-being can support effective client representation and a sustainable legal career.
