About This Course
This comprehensive CLE course is designed for new attorneys as an introduction to Civil and Special Civil motion practice. The course will primarily focus on the three most common types of motions including:
- 1) Summary Judgment Motions
- 2) Various Discovery Motions
- 3) Motions to dismiss/Post judgment motions.
The course will explain the process for implementing a motion practice strategy and its usefulness in providing the attorney with the direction and purpose of the case, as the second phase (after outlining a Discovery Plan) of preparing a trial notebook. This phase is critical in testing the strengths and weaknesses of your claims or defenses. More critically, it provides the foundation for educating the Judge(s) on the case’s specific nuances while serving to provide invaluable feedback for you and your client.
The course will explain how a well-prepared strategy to implement effective motions offers the attorney a greater likelihood to successfully litigate or settle the case. The course will conclude with expert tips on how to become more effective at both drafting and responding to motions.
