About This Course
Asylum cases are not cut and dried and range from the fairly straightforward to the incredibly complex. This CLE course will provide attorneys with basic knowledge about the asylum process as well as how to handle applications from the beginning of the process through its conclusion. The course will explain how to differentiate the level of complexity in different types of cases as well as the nuances of how persecution is defined by the INA. Drawing upon current case law as well as judicial opinions, the course will offer strategies to prepare a client for the asylum interview and evaluate positive and negative factors for an adjudicating officer. How to handle a denied application will also be discussed.
