Brian Tagtmeier, Esq.
In my 20+ years as a trial attorney, I have represented plaintiffs and defendants in hundreds of cases involving a wide array of disputes. I have tried or arbitrated more than 60 cases to a verdict in state and federal courts all across Texas.
In conjunction with my trial practice, I was fortunate to represent many small businesses in the Houston area. I helped these businesses form their corporate structures, negotiate leases, buy and sell property, draft employment manuals, draft construction contracts, and file lien and bond claims.
In my mediation and arbitration practice, I have mediated over 1200 cases in these areas commercial and residential construction matters, personal injuries, maritime law, DTPA claims, insurance coverage, intellectual property, trade secrets, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, FLSA claims, discrimination based on race, age, disability and national origin, Fair Debt Collection Act violations, libel and slander, partnership dissolutions, breach of contract and family law.
I also help teach mediation classes for AA White (UofH), Harris County DRC and Montgomery County DRC.
Additionally, I am committed to volunteering my time. At least one day a week, I volunteer my time to mediate and arbitrate claims for people who could not afford to hire someone to hear their dispute.
My commitment has led me to work with the Harris County DRC, Fort Bend County DRC, Montgomery County DRC, Jefferson County DRC, Houston Chapter of the Better Business Bureau and the United States District Courts for the Southern District of Texas.
In January 2009, the Houston Bar Foundation awarded me the Outstanding Service Award for the Harris County Dispute Resolution Center. This award celebrates the volunteer work I did with the Harris County DRC in mediations and in helping to train other civil and family mediators. I was also honored as a "Local Hero" by the Houston Lawyer for my pro bono family mediations.
I received my Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law in 1992.
