Lecturer Bios
Greg Markovich Esq.
Greg Markovich joined FINRA on February 1, 2016, and during his first six years he was responsible for leading cybersecurity examinations and providing security consultation and training for other staff. Currently, Mr. Markovich is a Senior Director responsible for a specialist team that investigates cybersecurity-based fraud at member firms. Prior to joining FINRA, Mr. Markovich has 30 years of information technology (IT) and security experience working at two investment management firms including Capital Group – American Funds, and American Century Investments. His leadership roles at these firms included responsibility for information security, risk management, identity access management, and disaster recovery.
Mr. Markovich also has experience leading applications development and infrastructure support teams. In addition to having an MBA degree from the University of Missouri, Mr. Markovich has several security certifications including a certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification.
Tracy Saale Esq.
Tracy Saale is the Managing Director and Corporate Risk Management and Corporate Responsibility officer at Charles Schwab. Ms. Saale established and leads the Charles Schwab Corporation's enterprise-wide Conduct Risk Management program. She oversees the Internal Investigations, Internal Surveillance, Anti- Bribery and Corruption, Complaints Risk Management, Anonymous Ombudsperson Reporting and Corporate Responsibility programs. She maintains responsibility for the Code and Business Conduct and Ethics and related governance policies.
Prior to joining Schwab, Ms. Saale worked for over 23 years as an attorney and Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Ms. Saale received her Juris Doctor degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Law and B.S. degrees in Political Science and French from Miami University. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio.
Jason Beachy Esq.
Jason Beachy is the Deputy Assistant Director of the International Operations Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He oversees global operations and logistics for over 700 employees, including personnel in nearly 100 different posts worldwide. He recently arrived in this position after serving as Chief of Staff of the National Security Branch, where he supported the Executive Assistant Director for National Security in the FBIs enterprise-wide efforts against Foreign and Domestic Terrorists, espionage activity in the U.S. and the creation and use of weapons of mass destruction. As a senior executive with over 20 years of experience in federal law enforcement and national security investigations, Mr. Beachy applies his experience in finding novel ways to identify and mitigate a variety of threats. He has been at the forefront of the FBIs and U.S. Intelligence Community's effort to disrupt and dismantle foreign terrorist organizations and malicious cyber actors around the world. He has been recognized for his roles in creating the FBIs team to counter al Qaeda's use of the Internet, leading the investigation of terrorist attacks in Turkey, Bulgaria, and Bosnia, and serving as the embedded Cyber liaison to the Dutch National High Tech Crime Unit.
He has enjoyed leading teams and building partnerships in Los Angeles, Washington DC, San Diego, and The Hague, The Netherlands. In each of his roles he promoted collaboration and communication as well as the meshing of old and new techniques to solve problems.
Mr. Beachy also served six years as a surface warfare officer in the United States Navy. He holds a bachelor's degree in Engineering and Environmental Science from the University of Notre Dame and a Master's Degree in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas.
He enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and considers surviving two seasons as coach of a Pre-K through 2nd grade flag football team as one of his greatest successes.
Brita Bayatmakou Esq.
Brita Bayatmakou is Vice President in FINRA’s National Cause and Financial Crimes Detection Program where she leads the Cyber and Analytics Unit. Her team focuses on assessing and enhancing member firms’ cyber controls, on proactively addressing cyber fraud threats, and on conducting complex investigations in the cybersecurity, cyber-enabled fraud and crypto asset disciplines.
Ms. Bayatmakou joined FINRA in 2021 after spending over 6 years at Charles Schwab leading several teams within the company’s Financial Crimes Risk Management department including an intelligence team that analyzed and identified emerging and complex cyber, fraud, and AML trends. She also led a team that focused on financial crime threat detection through the use of data science and advanced analytics.
Reflecting her AML expertise, Ms. Bayatmakou served as the BSA/AML Officer of Schwab’s Mutual Funds, ETFs, Worldwide Funds PLC and Charles Schwab Futures, Inc. Ms. Bayatmakou has authored/co-authored several publications related to financial crimes, cybersecurity, and AML topics. She holds two Masters Degrees, is a Certified Financial Crimes Specialist (CFCS), and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS). In addition to English, Ms. Bayatmakou speaks French, Farsi, and Arabic.
