  • Description
US law prohibits the prevention of trade with a US ally by means of boycotts from foreign states and international organizations. A variety of federal agencies, including the Department of Commerce and the Treasury, enforce the penalties required under such law. With a focus on the federal mandates that may restrict trade or necessitate a revision of contract for the boycotting state, this CLE course will offer examples of such requirements as well as explain the illegality of a company’s support for boycott or divestment on discriminatory or racists grounds. The course will also explain strategies to legally address boycotts and lawsuits under state law that can be brought.
