    The COVID pandemic has presented its own challenges to due process issues in litigation. This CLE course will explain these issues with regards to jury selection, witness testimony, public access to courts, speedy trials, remote/video testimony, and best health practices in court and in the office.

    The course is designed to be modular and can be expanded or condensed in conjunction with other courses.

  • Instructor Bio

    Joe Medici

    Joe Medici is the Director of the Trial Services Division. He manages the contract attorneys and the four county offices that provide local indigent defense services for the ten counties that contract with OPD, as well as the Trial Department in Columbus. While at OPD, Joe previously served as the Chief Counsel of the Legal Department where he oversaw the agency’s adult non-capital post-conviction litigation.

    Joe earned his undergraduate degree in English and economics from Kalamazoo College and his law degree from Case Western. Previously to joining OPD in 2017, Joe worked at the Lake County Public Defender’s Office as well as in private practice.

    In addition to his role at OPD, Joe also teaches Media Law & Ethics at Ohio State University and assists Case Western’s Law School mock trial team.
