Lecturer Bio
Victor M. Glasberg, Esq.
Vic Glasberg began his legal career in 1976, relocating to Alexandria, Virginia to work with noted civil rights attorney Philip Hirschkop, who a decade earlier successfully challenged laws prohibiting interracial marriage. In 1982, Vic founded his own practice, focusing on plaintiffs’ civil rights litigation—a commitment that has defined his career for over four decades.
Vic has long been an active member of the legal panel for the Virginia affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union, litigating numerous cases on its behalf. He has also served as Special Counsel to both the Alexandria and Prince William Human Rights Commissions. In addition to his litigation work, Vic is a frequent lecturer and author on civil rights issues, and has provided expert testimony on matters arising in this field.
His advocacy extends to the legislative arena as well. In 1991, Vic testified before the House Subcommittee on Civil and Constitutional Rights in support of H.R. 1, which was ultimately enacted as the Civil Rights Act of 1991. He previously testified before the same subcommittee in 1986 regarding the civil rights implications of proposed federal legislation regulating the medical profession.
Vic’s contributions to civil rights and public interest law have been widely recognized. He is a past President and Vice President of the Board of Legal Services of Northern Virginia. Among his honors, he received the Guardian of Liberty Award from the ACLU of Virginia in 1994 and the Oliver White Hill Courageous Advocate Award from the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association in 2017. In 2022, he was inducted into the Virginia Lawyers Hall of Fame alongside distinguished members of the judiciary and bar.
