This CLE course will present the impact of COVID-19 on prisons, prisoners and the reduction of sentences as a result. The course, presented by renowned attorney Benjamin Brafman, Esq., will explain the process and forms required to apply for such a reduction, particularly the Reduction in Sentence (RIS) provision.

An overview of the various requirements such as the Exhaustion Requirement, and the Extraordinary and Compelling Reasons Requirement will be explained as will how release plans are formulated and executed in the context of potential public safety issues regarding prisoners’ release.
