David L. Trueman, Esq.
David Trueman is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law where he taught health law courses as an adjunct faculty member for ten years. He is licensed in New York and New Jersey, as well as licensed as a psychologist in New York, although he no longer provides treatment to patients.
Dr. Trueman’s practice focuses on health and insurance law, representing health care professionals and individuals in a variety of health care and insurance contexts. A significant part of his practice is devoted to health care issues, providing counsel and representation to health care professionals in the range of their practices, including risk management and representation in disciplinary matters. Dr. Trueman also represents individuals who have been subjected to therapist abuse or neglect. Dr. Trueman has engaged in civil litigation on both the federal and state levels, proceeding on claims against insurance companies for both health insurance and long-term disability claims.
Dr. Trueman has practiced before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, federal district courts, the New York Court of Appeals, the First and Second Departments in New York, and various state courts in New York and New Jersey. He has made law in the Second Circuit and in New York State in relation to patient rights and insurance and his cases have been the focus of media attention.
Dr. Trueman’s professional writing, which includes book chapters and professional articles, is in the areas of health law and insurance law, patient rights, reviews of insurance denials, and clinical trials. Dr. Trueman has conducted numerous continuing legal education seminars and lectures for health care professionals on these topics.
