About This Course
This CLE program provides attorneys with practical guidance on protecting settlement proceeds for clients who are vulnerable, disabled, or otherwise in need of financial safeguards. The course explores the use of pooled special needs trusts, settlement preservation pooled trusts, and structured settlements as tools for preserving assets and supporting long-term planning goals.
Presenters will discuss how to evaluate client circumstances and determine appropriate planning options, including considerations related to disability status, settlement size, age, and eligibility for means-tested benefits such as Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Attendees will also gain insight into the differences between pooled and standalone trust arrangements and key factors to consider when evaluating trust options and administrators.
