About This Course
This introductory CLE course will offer a glimpse into the exclusive area of anti-terrorism litigation. The course will provide an overview of the most common federal anti-terrorism statutes including 28 U.S.C. 1605A (the “terrorism exception” to the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act) and the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) as amended by the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA).
The course will address timelines, eligibility criteria, and the typical obstacles to obtaining a judgment. Available damages, policy implications, and key players will also be discussed. The course will conclude with the most frequently asked question: do you ever actually collect on those judgments?
