About This Course
This CLE program explores two developing pressure points in legal ethics: attorney withdrawal and nondiscriminatory jury selection. Focusing on real-world litigation dynamics, the course analyzes how counsel can seek to withdraw when faced with client misconduct or breakdowns in representation while preserving confidentiality and complying with court expectations for disclosure.
The program also examines the continuing evolution of fair jury selection, including the boundaries of permissible strategy under constitutional and professional responsibility standards. Participants will review current doctrine and enforcement trends addressing discriminatory use of peremptory challenges, along with the practical risks that arise in voir dire.
Designed for practicing attorneys, this course provides concrete frameworks for balancing ethical obligations with advocacy demands, offering strategies to manage client pressures, judicial scrutiny, and litigation risk without running afoul of governing rules.
