Merrill R. Cohen, Esq.
Merrill Cohen established her immigration law firm more than 20 years ago in New York City. She has been named to the annual Super Lawyers List for the past eight years, consecutively, and named to the Top Women’s Attorneys List for Metro New York for the past seven years, consecutively. Ms. Cohen’s primary practice area is business immigration, with a strong focus on EB-1, EB-2 NIW and PERM-based immigrant petitions. The Cohen law firm also handles family petitions, naturalization and removal cases. Clients include research hospitals, universities, vocational schools, corporations and sports clubs, as well as internationally-recognized athletes, designers, motion graphics professionals, research scientists, engineers, lawyers, computer science professionals, architects, TV producers, writers, fine artists, actors, models, musicians and other professionals.
Ms. Cohen was featured in an article published in the New York Law Journal magazine and has been interviewed on CBS.COM and FOX TV. Articles about Ms. Cohen and her clients have been published on the front page of New York Post, in People Magazine , cbs.com, and many other national and local publications.
Ms. Cohen was appointed to the Presidential Commission; received the Congressional Medal of Distinction and the Ronald Reagan Gold Medal; and twice won the National Leadership Award. She is a longstanding member of the American Immigration Law Association. She is a cum laude graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she was a member of Law Review. She is also a cum laude graduate of Brooklyn College, where she majored in Economics. She is admitted to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, Second Judicial Department; the State of New York and the U.S. District Court, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She has traveled throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia and South America, and has written two screenplays.
