About This Course

Lecturer Bio

Daniel Gunter, Esq.

Daniel J. Gunter graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law in 1997. He graduated first in his class, and he also served as editor-in-chief of the Oregon Law Review for 1996-97. After graduation, he served as law clerk for one year for the Honorable Robert R. Beezer of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. From 1998 until 2018, he worked as a litigator with the Seattle law firm Riddell Williams P.S., which was acquired by Fox Rothschild, LLC, in 2017. He joined the firm in the fall 2021.

As a litigator, Dan has worked in a wide range of areas, including commercial, employment, product liability, construction defect, insurance coverage, and maritime matters. He has written many appellate briefs and argued before the Washington appellate courts and the Ninth Circuit. He has significant experience working with expert witnesses-from both sides of the table. He also advises clients in contract formation and employment matters.

Before law school, Dan worked for ten years as an editor of scholarly books for university presses. He has also taught legal writing at Hamline University School of Law and Mitchell Hamline School of Law. And, before law school, Dan earned a master's degree in English and taught writing at the university level. He is a published author of legal articles, short stories, and poetry. He brings this experience as an editor, teacher, and writer to his work as a lawyer. He values both precision and persuasiveness in drafting, whether the written product is a brief, a complaint, an answer, a letter or a contract.
