About This Course
This CLE program examines Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) through the lens of professional competence and ethical legal practice. Attorneys will consider how implicit and institutional bias can affect investigations, litigation decisions, client relationships, workplace interactions, and the exercise of professional judgment.
The program will connect DEIB principles to attorneys’ ethical obligations under the ABA Model Rules and provide practical strategies for identifying and addressing bias in everyday legal practice. Using real-world scenarios and practical tools, participants will learn approaches to improve documentation, reduce professional and organizational risk, communicate more effectively with clients and colleagues, and foster more inclusive legal workplaces.
The course presents DEIB not simply as an organizational initiative, but as a practical component of competent, ethical, and effective lawyering.
