    Asylum cases are not cut and dried and range from the fairly straightforward to the incredibly complex. This CLE course will provide attorneys with basic knowledge about the asylum process as well as how to handle applications from the beginning of the process through its conclusion. The course will explain how to differentiate the level of complexity in different types of cases as well as the nuances of how persecution is defined by the INA. Drawing upon current case law as well as judicial opinions, the course will offer strategies to prepare a client for the asylum interview and evaluate positive and negative factors for an adjudicating officer. How to handle a denied application will also be discussed.

    Joshua Benjamin

    Joshua Benjamin is an immigration attorney located in Cherry Hill, NJ. He was born in Cairo, Egypt and immigrated to the United States with his parents at the age of four. He attended Rutgers University in Camden, NJ and received a Bachelor of Science in both economics and philosophy in only three years. He was then admitted to the Drexel Thomas R. Kline School of Law’s Accelerated Juris Doctor program, an accredited two-year JD program. Upon passing the New Jersey bar and receiving his license to practice law in such an impressive time, Joshua opened his own law firm and has been fighting for the rights of his clients ever since.
