    Cybersecurity is a huge concern in these digital times. This CLE course will focus on existing concerns that have taken on greater importance recently as well as new issues that have arisen as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The course will identify threat-actors and how they exploit pandemic related vulnerabilities with the use of business email compromise, remote work and social engineering attacks.

    The various risks of data breaches and ransomware attacks that both disrupt and sometimes completely compromise you and your clients as well as open up potential liability for privacy violations will be explained. Tips and strategies to reduce your risks will be presented within the current climate and capabilities.

    Steven Teppler

    Steven W. Teppler is a member at Mandelbaum Salsburg and chairs the Firm’s Privacy and Cyber Security Practice Group. His practice focus is on privacy, cybersecurity, and problems arising from security vulnerabilities and code defects in technology-enabled devices and services (aka the “Internet of Things”). The firm’s electronic discovery practice focuses digital evidence life-cycle management, preservation, loss or destruction of electronically stored information (“ESI”), cybersecurity, cyber-forensics, authentication and admissibility issues uniquely inherent to computer-generated information.

    Steven also asserts and defends complex electronic discovery issues, including abuse and spoliation litigation arising from unauthorized ESI manipulation or alteration. Steven teaches cybersecurity at the University of South Florida, where he is a Professor of Practice, and holds six patents involving the generation of trusted data objects using robust cryptographic processes.

    Eric Hibbard

    Eric A. Hibbard is the Managing Director of PrivSec Consulting LLC and a cybersecurity and privacy leader with extensive experience in industry, U.S. Government, and academia. In addition to consulting, he architects and audits information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructures and solutions involving a wide range of technologies (IoT, cloud, storage, big data, AI, smart cities, blockchain) in organizations throughout the world.

    Mr. Hibbard holds leadership positions in standards development organization and industry associations, including ISO/IEC JTC 1, the InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS), the American Bar Association (ABA), the IEEE Computer Society, the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA). Hibbard is or has served in an editorship role on multiple international standards projects.

    Mr. Hibbard possesses a unique set of professional credentials that include the (ISC)2 CISSPISSAP, ISSMP, and ISSEP certifications as well as the ISACA CISA, IAPP CIPT, and CSA CCSK certifications. He has a BS in Computer Science.
