    Immigration has been a hot button issue for quite some time and it is likely to stay that way. This CLE course will explain the current administrations laws and offer insight into how immigration reform will affect us in the future. The course will focus on business and family immigration with particular interest in the commonly used categories. The course will also review the PERM process for sponsoring green cards and the implications of recent developments to it, and investor applications such as the E visa and the EB-5 Program. The course will also offer strategies to avoid common errors, explain compliance and best practices in the event of an audit, and explain how unemployment and corporate restructuring has had an impact on the immigration process.

    Jeffrey Margolis

    Mr. Margolis' unique dual practice has concentrated on representation of major domestic and foreign clients with respect to a wide variety of sophisticated Real Estate transactions. Further, Mr. Margolis has often counseled major law firms, information technology companies, foreign investors and multi-national corporations with respect to Immigration and Consular Law. He has shared his expertise in these two areas by frequently lecturing before bar and trade groups as well as authoring publishing cutting edge articles. Margolis has received the "Av" (highest) rating as to professional skills from the Martindale Hubbell Law Directory.

    Drawing upon experience gained at the New York firms of Whitman & Ransom and Marshall, Bratter, Mr. Margolis opened his own law firm in mid-town Manhattan on February 1, 1982.
