About This Course
This CLE program explores how the notion of “zealous advocacy” has been reframed in contemporary legal ethics and practice. While earlier formulations emphasized aggressive representation as a core professional duty, modern standards place greater weight on judgment, civility, and the lawyer’s broader obligations to the legal system.
Through an examination of Georgia’s Lawyer’s Creed, the Aspirational Statement on Professionalism, and the analytical framework developed by Nathan M. Crystal, the course highlights competing models of lawyering and their practical implications. Attendees will consider how these perspectives influence strategic decision-making, client representation, and the ethical boundaries of advocacy in today’s practice environment.
