About This Course
This CLE course provides an overview of New Jersey landlord-tenant law, covering the legal framework governing residential and commercial leasing, the rights and obligations of landlords and tenants, and common issues that arise during the lease relationship. The program examines key provisions of the New Jersey Security Deposit Act, the Anti-Eviction Act, and the Summary Dispossess Act, along with essential lease drafting considerations, including rent, security deposits, maintenance obligations, assignments, attorney's fees, required disclosures, and regulatory compliance.
The course also reviews eviction proceedings in the Landlord/Tenant Part of the Special Civil Part, including actions involving nonpayment of rent, lease violations, holdover tenancies, property damage, and disorderly conduct. Attorneys will gain practical guidance on advising clients, drafting lease provisions, and navigating landlord-tenant disputes under New Jersey law.
