About This Course
This CLE program provides attorneys with a practical overview of the U.S. immigration system, including the laws and procedures governing immigration status, work authorization, permanent residence, and citizenship. Participants will examine common nonimmigrant visa categories, the primary pathways to obtaining lawful permanent residence, and the requirements for naturalization.
The course will also address employer obligations under federal immigration law, including employment eligibility verification, recordkeeping requirements, and compliance considerations. In addition, the program will review anti-discrimination protections related to citizenship status and national origin in the hiring and employment context.
