About This Course
Balancing the demands of legal practice with the responsibilities of caring for a child, spouse, parent, or other loved one presents unique challenges for many attorneys. This CLE program examines how family caregiving can affect an attorney's ability to meet professional obligations while maintaining personal well-being. Through practical examples and an analysis of the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, the program explores the ethical issues that may arise when caregiving responsibilities interfere with the practice of law.
Attendees will gain practical guidance on identifying situations that may impact competence, diligence, client communication, confidentiality, supervision, and other professional duties. The course also discusses strategies for managing risk, maintaining effective law office operations, and recognizing the signs of caregiver stress and burnout. Participants will leave with practical tools to help safeguard client interests while supporting their own resilience and long-term success in the legal profession.
