About This Course
Real estate deals are increasingly targeted by complex and evolving fraud schemes, placing attorneys on the front lines of prevention. This CLE program provides a focused, practice-oriented overview of the most prevalent threats, including mortgage fraud, identity theft and forgery, wire fraud, and modern cybersecurity risks. It also addresses the expanding role of artificial intelligence and deepfake technology in enabling deed fraud and title theft.
Attendees will gain actionable insight into recognizing warning signs throughout the lifecycle of a transaction and implementing practical controls to reduce exposure. Emphasis will be placed on due diligence, secure communication practices, and verification procedures designed to protect both clients and counsel.
The program will also cover the function of title insurance and the title insurance underwriter, offering guidance on policy coverage, the claims process, and how these tools can be used strategically to mitigate risk and respond effectively when fraud occurs.
