About This Course
This CLE program focuses on the role of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) in contested custody matters. Geared toward family law practitioners, the course examines how parental alcohol misuse can affect caregiving capacity, household stability, and child safety within the context of best-interest determinations.
Attorneys will develop a practical understanding of the clinical foundations of AUD, the developmental consequences of ACE exposure, and the evidentiary considerations that arise in custody litigation. The program provides strategic guidance for analyzing risk factors, collaborating with evaluators and treatment professionals, and effectively presenting or challenging substance-related evidence in court.
