About This Course
This CLE course focuses on how artificial intelligence is reshaping professional responsibility expectations for today’s lawyers. As AI tools become embedded in legal workflows, attorneys must understand not only how to use them, but how their use alters long-standing ethical duties related to confidentiality, supervision, and fees.
This program examines emerging guidance from the ABA and influential state bar authorities and highlights the ethical implications of advanced generative and agentic AI systems. Attendees will explore the risks associated with increasingly autonomous AI tools, heightened scrutiny of AI-assisted billing practices, and the growing expectation that lawyers employ technology competently and efficiently.
Key areas of discussion include protecting client information across different AI deployment models, supervising AI systems that function as non-lawyer assistants, and reassessing traditional billing structures as automation dramatically reduces drafting and research time. This course is designed to help practitioners anticipate ethical pitfalls while responsibly integrating AI into modern legal practice.
