About This Course
Employment attorneys frequently encounter workplace disputes involving serious health conditions, but long-term disability (LTD) benefits may not be considered until important rights are at risk. This CLE program provides employment attorneys with practical guidance for identifying potential ERISA disability issues before a client is terminated, enters into a severance agreement, seeks an ADA accommodation, or takes action in employment litigation that may affect a disability claim.
Through real-world examples and practical strategies, the program examines how to protect LTD coverage, address disability benefits in severance negotiations, navigate benefit offsets, coordinate employment and disability claims, and recognize important filing deadlines and plan requirements. Attendees will gain the tools to identify these issues earlier, safeguard clients’ financial interests, and avoid costly mistakes that may be difficult or impossible to correct later.
