About This Course
This CLE program provides an overview of the legal framework governing special education practice. Attendees will examine the core requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, with particular emphasis on their application under New York State Education Law and Part 200 of the Commissioner’s Regulations.
The course also highlights significant case law shaping special education rights and obligations. Through a practical, practitioner-oriented approach, participants will develop a foundational understanding of compliance, advocacy, and procedural strategy. The program is well suited for attorneys seeking to build competency in special education law or expand into this practice area.
