About This Course
Immigration is one of the most controversial topics in the US today. And while a pivotal issue in the last presidential campaign, immigration policy in the US is actually set by Congress, with only the issue of refugees determined by the President, and is implemented by the granting or denial of visas, of which there are two types. Non-immigrant visas are typically issued to tourists and travelers visiting for temporary business purposes and do not generally provide their holders with the option of employment in the US. Immigrant visas are issued for those who wish to remain in the US and, acting as a pre-cursor to an application for citizenship, and typically allow for employment. Immigrant visas are limited, both as an overall number for the US and a specific cap based on the country of origin. This CLE course will explain all the options and processes available to foreign nationals who desire to come to the US either for investment, employment and to begin the process that will lead to US citizenship.
