The sports industry, like most industries around the world, has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This CLE course will address the legal issues of the sports business and how it has been affected as well as the legal, contractual and economic challenges faced by the leagues, unions, teams, and players, particularity in the US.

The course will present the different approaches being taken by the various leagues and government entities as well as the force majeure clauses which impact commercial contracts. More specifically, the course will discuss how each league may likely fare in attempting to return to play, the particular risks they face and how they may be overcome.

The discussion will be presented in the context of the legal issues such as waivers, liabilities, precautions and immunities and the challenges to current and future revenue streams.
