About This Course
This CLE program examines the strategic and ethical considerations involved in transitioning or transferring a law practice. Attendees will explore how law firms are valued, the practical realities of selling a practice, and the professional responsibility issues that arise when planning for succession or exit.
The course also analyzes broader shifts shaping today’s legal marketplace, including the growing role of acquisitions as a growth strategy, the declining appeal of internal succession models, and the emergence of new law firm structures fueled by post-2020 technological and cultural changes.
Through a practical lens, participants will gain insight into how attorneys can responsibly plan for retirement, firm transitions, or closure while remaining compliant with ethical obligations to clients, colleagues, and the profession. This program is designed to help lawyers make informed, forward-looking decisions about the future of their practices.
