About This Course
This CLE program examines the legal and practical considerations that arise when school districts seek to discipline students with disabilities. Focusing on New York State Education Law, the Commissioner’s Regulations, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (“IDEA”), the program will address the requirements applicable to disciplinary actions involving classified students, including the role and significance of manifestation determination reviews.
The program will also provide practical guidance for school counsel and other attorneys on preparing for and conducting Superintendent’s hearings, evaluating disciplinary issues, and navigating manifestation determination reviews in compliance with applicable law.
